Matt, I know that this video is 3 years old as I write this, but I'm wondering if you had decoder failures in these installations because one decoder was "back-feeding" into the other. Specifically, current was flowing from, not only the rails, but also from the second decoder into the first decoder. Perhaps a number of diodes installed to ensure that the juice only flows in one direction would solve the problem? I'm not an electronics expert, so maybe someone who actually knows about this stuff could chime in.

My layout is 24" radius so I too am having some difficulties with derailments. I'm going to get some Kadee long shank couplers, and hopefully this will help. I have 7 business cars on reserve from BLI. Two of the cars are Kenefick. I will rename one of the cars will be named Proviso now that the yard is UP owned now.

I just got my new Q2 in today. I've waited YEARS for this to come back. I'm surprised that some of my older HO steamers run smoother and sound more realistic. Doesn't seem that technology has gone anywhere in 14 years. It's still a beauty and happy to now have a Q2 in the stable.

Imo Walthers is one of the best for Daylight cars behind broadway limited. Theyre fairly detailed and VERY affordable

Tried to add passengers to the dining and observation cars. Interiors were horribly designed.

I learned the weights in the tender can be removed, which helps lower current draw and increase pulling power

The clicking noise is coming from the plastic ring on the inside of the wheels, some of the plastic rings are not trimmed properly and the power pick ups rub on the plastic, easy fix! You can slightly bend the power pickups away from the plastic that also helps eliminate other rubbing noises. 🤟

the whistle on the blueline prr j1a and prr t1 is my favorite, very easy to quill as well unlike latter versions paragon 2, 3, 4. sad to see broadway abandoned it. it was perfect. this one is quite nice too though

Hi @Matt, On the M.T.H. Electric Trains Version of the Union Pacific Big Boy, the steam generator or dynamo which is technically the steam turbine is on that locomotive. However, it is on the Engineer's side. All that piping you say isn't prototype, is for the dynamo. You can see it there if you look carefully. When the Union Pacific Big Boy Steam Locomotives were first built, that is the version of steam generator they came with. Due to getting dirt and other debris of material, the steam generator was move from the Engineer's side to the Fireman's side, but on top of the boiling instead of hanging low. This solved the problem of the steam generator getting dirt and other materials in it. I hope that helps.

I wish there could be a way I can get a Challenger like this that would be fun don't u think? But except I don't wanna hear it with sounds if I had something like this I would ask somebody at a train shop to take out the sounds and then have this engine like a DC/Analogue engine without any sounds I just don't like these sounds because there too loud and I don't like hearing things that are too loud like y said in the video.

Just need the flag car and the 3985 and the business car and I am done
